Simone Magnolini, photographer of the 20th century

Borno, Camonica valley, permanent exhibition and web-site

The Permanent Exhibition dedicated to the photographer Simone Magnolini, fervently wished for by the Municipality of Borno, is located in the historical centre, in a prestigious, recently renovated and easily accessible building.

This website contains all the material displayed in the exhibition: it is thus possible to browse through sixteen thematic sections, enriched by 232 pictures taken by Simone Magnolini. You need only click on the menu and choose the desired section. To take a look at the pictures you will need to click on the "Fotogalleria" (photogallery) button, inside each section. It is also possible to read five virtual itineraries, which can be utilised for a real trail.

The exhibition aims to gain a double result: first of all to celebrate the memory of a famous fellow-citizen who, through his own work, has crossed different periods, fixing on film the history and culture of the mountains, witness to the period in which, for the majority of the population, photography was the only way to remember and to transmit emotions experienced in particular moments.

Secondly we would like to enable the rising and future generations - visiting the exhibit - to know the time when life flowed following human rhythms, and the no longer young generations to go through moments and emotions of their own past again, viewing the images fixed in the photographs by Simone Magnolini.

The Municipality of Borno wishes all those visiting the exhibition, and the historical building that houses it, moments spent in calm remembering that we are not living on our memories of the past but, looking at these images made in a period very far from us, and that our present is based on the past that we lived.
